Tuyết Vân Huỳnh is pleased to present Rewind & Reframe, a visual celebration of Vietnamese cinema, from the energy of the instant noodle era (1990–94) to the groundbreaking storytelling that followed. Sparked by the socio-economic shifts of the Đổi Mới reforms (1986 onwards), this period gave rise to fast-made, emotionally charged films that captured a nation in flux, raw, rebellious, and wildly inventive.
This exhibition showcases newly commissioned work by Toma Nguyễn, Donald Shek and Thành Trần where they reimagine what the poster for these films could have been, whether drawing on existing visuals or responding through memory, aesthetic, critique, or love. Some reinterpret classic posters; others create new ones where none ever existed.
Rooted in the spirit of joy, reinvention, and resistance, Rewind & Reframe is more than a nostalgic look back, it’s an invitation to see these films anew, and to honour how they moved through generations, screens, and lives.
